Time for my picks for the week that is in college football…let’s get right to it.
Virginia 34, Miami (FL) 21
Illinois 28, Iowa 21
Boston College 31, Clemson 17
Minnesota 23, Northwestern 14
Michigan State 33, Wisconsin 10
West Virginia 44, Connecticut 21
Oklahoma 55, Nebraska 17
Wake Forest 14, Duke 10
Notre Dame 26, Pittsburgh 19
South Carolina 17, Tennessee 9
Kansas 38, Kansas State 31
California 24, Oregon 20
Florida State 24, Georgia Tech 17
Alabama 41, Arkansas State 10
And now for the two big games of the week…my breakdowns…
Texas vs. Texas Tech
This game has Texas-sized shootout written all over it. These two teams sports two of the most high-powered offenses in the country, much less the Big 12, which is known this year for high scoring teams. Texas has played two consecutive tough opponents, and travels to Lubbock where the Red Raiders rarely lose. That being said, Texas Tech hasn’t really played anybody yet all season and this is by far their stiffest test. Look for this game to be in the 40’s and 50’s by the 3rd quarter.
FINAL SCORE - Texas 56, Texas Tech 45
Georgia vs. Florida
I don’t care what you say, I still think of this game as the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, and stakes could not be higher for these two one-loss teams. If you win, you’ve got a straight shot to Atlanta to represent the SEC East in the SEC Championship Game on December 6th and possibly play for a BCS Championship Game berth. There’s a lot on the line this year, and don’t think for a minute that Florida has forgotten what the Bulldogs did last year with their elaborate team end-zone celebration. They’ll remember that, but they’ll remember more what Knowshon Moreno did to them on the ground. Revenge is a dish best served cold, so if I were the Bulldogs, I’d come in with an empty stomach.
FINAL SCORE - Florida 55, Georgia 28
So there you have it…my picks for the week. We’ll see how I do.
