You can say a lot about sweet Jill…but one thing you cannot say is that it's ever boring with her around. :)

First let me say that yesterday was a typical Monday…lots of escalations, and just overall crappiness at work. It's not a bad job, I love it as a matter of fact, but right now the atmosphere is very pressure-filled. So I'm just glad it was Monday night and time for me and Jill's weekly ritual of pool at Bumper's.

Now I should preface this by saying that Jill had emailed me earlier in the day to make sure we were still on and to also say that she would be a “cheap date” because she's decided to stop drinking for a while. That's all well and good…but I didn't want to have dinner at Bumper's. Their selection isn't the best…there are things that are the best, and that selection of food isn't one of them. So Jill suggests Stix, which is a great little Chinese/Japanese/Sushi place in Hoover. So we go and we sit at the sushi bar. It was actually really good. Jill got a ginger salad and spice tuna roll, and I got a bowl of won ton soup and a California roll. I should mention that I only got the California roll because I asked if Jill would eat a piece or two of it…turns out she didn't, but that's okay.

Dinner was good, and we headed to Bumper's. Wait, let me tell you what Jill did first…there's a song I've been wanted her to hear lately…it's called “Hands Down” by Dashboard Confessional. Great song, I know…as we're leaving Stix, I say “Hey Jill, come listen to this song right quick.” and she's all like “Oh, I don't know, I'll just see you at Bumper's…” It was a total and complete diss of the Dashboard.

So, we head to Bumper's. Jill manages to get us some balls for a pay table for free, and since I had bought dinner, she agrees to buy me a couple drinks. We get a table in Lindsay's section on the lower level of the place, and we're playing, having fun, and I'm playing really well by the way, and then suddenly a POP, and the lights go out, with the emergency flood lights coming on all over as the only source of light.

Turns out 3 transformers blew out, and knocked out power to the building Bumper's is in and the theater next door. Great…so we play in the dark for about 2 hours, then Andi shows up and we head over to my house (just me and Andi) for a drink. We chat about Tapers Section.com which is a cool little site where you can download all kinds of cool shows…

So yeah…that was my Monday…heading to the beach with Donna and Bo on Wednesday night…can't wait…
