The Least Meaningful Exit Ever

icon1 Posted by Mattie in american idol, friendships, music, the coolness, the day to day on 05 17th, 2007 | one response

It’s time to find out who will be at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood for the American Idol finale…and…Homer Simpson?  Sure…I guess…this is American Idol!

Is it me, or was last night’s results show a bit anticlimactic?  Let’s just be totally honest with each other here, I mean…Melinda’s getting a record deal.  Hell, the top 4 contestants from last year’s show got record deals…with the one who got voted off first (Daughtry) selling the most albums so far!  So this week’s exit of Melinda Doolittle is probably the least meaningful exit ever, and you could sort of tell she knew that as she was watching her little “I’m Goin’ Home” montage.

So it’s Jordin and Blake in the finals…the raw talent of Jordin versus the unconventional style of Blake.  These two contestants were made to go against one another.  And again, it’s sort of pointless to even have a finale, because we all know that both these guys have a long future ahead of them in the music industry.  Winning American Idol does not make or break one’s career if you make it this far.

But it should be an entertaining show to say the least.  One last thing about this week’s results show performances…how about Yamin with the porcelain fronts and the new hair-do?!?  I think he looked cool, and he was singing as good as ever, without the scary mess that his smile was.  The guy just exudes happiness on-stage, and I really enjoyed his performance.  I think I might just go to iTunes and download the CD.

I was less enthralled with Maroon 5’s new song, but I guess it’ll grow on me.

Sometime before the finale, I’m going to post the three songs that are my Wishlist for Jordin and Blake.  Chances are they won’t sing these songs, but I can wish can’t I?

See you next week for the (not really that important) American Idol finale!

I have the Elliot Yamin CD, and I pre-ordered Maroon 5, so I’ll have that downloaded next week when it’s released … If you don’t want to spend the money, I’ll burn them both and send them to you. Let me know.
