So one more hour with Ryan and our Top 7, as the voting results from Country Night are in, and someone is going home tonight…this is American Idol!

First off, let me go on record by saying that I’m really excited about next week’s shows.  I hate that we’ll be traveling to Florida that Wednesday, but we should be settled in by the time the show starts at 8pm EST next Wednesday night.  I had thought they were going to do postpone an actual competition show for the benefit, but it’s going to be a two-hour extravaganza both nights, so that should be big fun.

Now I do want to mention something here…I thought Fergie’s performance was great, she really can sing, but having her on the same show as Martina McBride…?  That was a bit odd to me.  And one last thing about Martina, she can sing man!!  She can really bring it, and I know my wife is really looking forward to going to her concert here in Birmingham in a couple weeks.

Okay, so now the moment we’ve all been waiting for…results!  With the way the contestants were up on the sofas, I thought for sure that Phil and Sanjaya were in the bottom 3 until they decided to bring them out in groups to the center of the stage.  When I saw them split up Sanjaya and Phil initially, I really thought Sanjaya had made it out again, because Phil had been in the bottom 3 a few weeks in a row and barely survived.

Not so fast my friend!!!  It’s Sanjaya, LaKisha (LaKisha!), and Blake (BLAKE?!?) in the bottom 3.  I agree that LaKisha’s performance was not stellar on Tuesday, but bottom 3 worthy?  I think not…and what the hell was Blake doing up there.  Again, he didn’t wow anybody with his rendition of Tim McGraw’s song “When The Stars Go Blue”, but dang it, he really is the most talented male singer left in this competition…and when it was time to send someone back to the couch, I was relieved that it was Blake.

So it’s down to LaKisha and Sanjaya…finally…so let’s get on with it, let’s see Sanjaya cost another worthy contestant their spot…

YES!  WOO-HOO!!!  Sanjaya is gone!  Sanjaya is gone!

Should I be taking this much pleasure in the demise of someone I don’t even know?

Hell yes I should!

That’s all I really have to say about it other than it’s about time…

And Gina Glocksen…this one’s for you.

He’s going home…to the place where he belongs…!
