Let the schwag cometh…again…
Many of you probably remember the phenomenon that was Valleyschwag. VS was an idea brought about by the company RubyRed Labs in which they would gather a nice package of swag from various tech companies and send it out as a care package to it’s subscribers. They sent out 6 different editions of VS (I received 4 of them myself), and it was a success. Unfortunately the burden of sending out thousands of packages was too taxing on their actual jobs, so they decided to end Valleyschwag in April.
Well, take heart those who love the swag, because StartupSchwag is here to help you with your addiction. I received an email from Roddy Richards today saying it was starting up in September, limited to t-shirts only (which to me was the 2nd best part of the VS packages, right behind the stickers). If you’re interested in signing up for more info, feel free to go to www.startupschwag.com and sign up.
coming soon…venturetone.com!
I’ve decided that it’s time to venture into the Land of More-Than-One-Blog, and while I maintain that I still won’t do this blog justice, I plan on putting some thought and effort into the new one I’ve started up which will be entitled “VentureTone”, cleverly located at venturetone.com.
The point of this website will be to promote the entertainment side of me…things like music, games, movies, books, etc. I’ll throw up thoughts on all these things on a regular basis in hopes that my own trials and tribulations will assist those in the process of purchasing or obtaining of these things.
And so I hope you’ll all stop by and check out venturetone.com when it’s up and running. I plan on using RapidWeaver on my Mac to build the site, so I’m excited about how (allegedly) easy it will be to do.
The Valleyschwag General Store
Open for business!
That’s right, after a few months of working out the kinks in their schwagalicious showcasing product, Valleyschwag has introduced their own online store, called the General Store. Yeehaw! I placed my order for VS5 as well as a new FRESH t-shirt and one of the Laughing Squid t-shirts as well. My old FRESH shirt got a stain on it, plus it shrank something awful in the dryer.
I’m super-pumped about this, so I encourage you all to check out the store and place your order.
choose your destiny
I posed a question to the folks at 9rules today…here it is:
Here’s something I think should be interesting discussion.
If you could choose one skill or talent that you don’t currently have and it could be given to you by snapping your fingers, what would it be?
The one caveat is that it can’t be superhero-power related (like being able to fly, see through walls, super-human strength, etc.)
Mine would be being able to play the piano or guitar flawlessly without having to look at sheet music at all.
Yours?
And here are some of the replies:
- Bar none… draw like Todd McFarlane.
- I sat and really don’t know. Sure, I’d like to be able to play piano better but I guess with time I could be better on my own. If I don’t have the time to develop it, is it worth it? Maybe a journey v. destination thing. Or maybe I haven’t got much sleep and am talking crazy talk.
- How about being extremely persuasive? This would make all aspects of life easier.
- Jedi mind powers came IMMEDIATELY to mind but then I came across the caveat.
So what about you?
back into the swing
Okay so I’ve been trying to find a full time job, and in the meantime, I had a friend of mine find me a temp job working at Compass Bank here in town doing some clerical work in the Data Security department. Sure, it sounds glamourous, but it’s really, really boring. But it’s work, and it’s $12/hour, so I’ll take it.
On the flip side, there’s a new CSR out, so check that out. Also, I’ve decided that it’s time this blog be about more than just me and my life. So, it’s time to announce that onematt.com is now the home of what I think about everything, specifically reviews on everything from music to games to restaurants to movies to broadway shows to tv shows. Anything that I experience that I feel I can comment on to the betterment of the public good, I shall do this!
So look for my review of the album Set Yourself On Fire by Stars…coming soon. (the reason it’s not here now is because I was typing it in the Wordpress editor, and right when I went to save it and my website went all wonky on me…figures…)
guess who’s rich in itunes gift cards??!
Oh yeah, that’d be me!
Thanks to all who came out to Zyng last night for my birthday gala. It was big fun and I loved all my gifts and cards. Tell me that Adam’s Peanut Butter Cheesecake isn’t the bomb-diggity!
I’ve already gotten on iTunes and spent my $85 in gift certificates. Let’s see…here’s what I got…the new Tom Petty album, three Kings of Conveinence albums, the new G.Love album, the new Five for Fighting album, a single from Stars, and the Jack Johnson/Curious George album…all in all, I think around 94 songs! That’s gettin’ your money’s worth.
So now it’s August 3rd, and the next thing I’m excited about getting would be my Valleyschwag4…c’mon RRLabs…hook a brotha’ up!
ahh…blessed HT…
So I’m back on the phones today. I’m over this place…I really am. I’ve got two options floating around out there and when I land one for sure, this blog will be the…like….4th place to know.
I’m burned out on MMORPGs right now…all of ‘em…suggestions welcome.
The new Valleyschwag, edition 4, should be arriving by the end of this week or start of next week.
CSR31 is up.
That is all.
I’m over it.
father ruled by long division, young men they pretend…old men comprehend…
USA! USA! US…oh, they lost? Dang.
So the USA’s hopes of World Cup glory fall by the wayside yet again…0-2-1…feel free.
So the Valleyschwag folks said the packages aren’t going out until the end of the month…that’s cool. At least they’re being up front with us and letting us know what to expect so we aren’t upset later.
I’m very much ready for the weekend!
there’s something about the look in your eyes, something I noticed when the light was just right…
Tip of the Day #1 - Never ever update your Careerbuilder resume.
I was bored yesterday and did that…I guess it pings to the resume pool and alerts other job seekers that there’s something new to look at. I’ve received 4 emails in the last 12 hours from perspective employers…all junk.
But it is sort of reassuring to know that the same crap jobs exist today that existed 4 years ago when I found Cingular.
Congrats to the Heat…Shaq got his championship without Kobe before Kobe got his championship without Shaq. Yay for Shaq!
I have but one wish…I wish I lived in a more progressive town…
I am wishing you a well…mind at peace within your cell…
Back from the beach…things are well.
Valleyschwag part 3 (2 for me) should be arriving soon. According to the website, they’re nearly done gathering the schwag from various locales and it should ship soon. I’m very excited to see how many more cool laptop stickers I get. I plan on entering my laptop into the contest soon. And it’s nice to see Melle’s coming around to see that schwag doesn’t suck. Nice rack, btw (x2).
Oh, speaking of schwag related stories…I spilled some marinara sauce on my FRESH t-shirt I got from RubyRed, and I emailed Thor and he said they’d see about sending me a replacement! How cool are they!?!
I do wish this week would fly by…big weekend plans coming up.
As for tonight…more laundry and oh yeah, that’s right…the Braves suck.
