Tonight’s show starts off pretty good…the little arrangement with the contestants (I refuse to call them all American Idols…much like the Highlander…there can be only one) was pretty good.  Andrew Lloyd Webber, while being a bit of a spaz, was pretty genuine in his critique of the contestants and fairly entertaining in his own right.

I had to tell Christy who Leona Lewis was, and I myself aren’t that familiar with her music.  Her song was pretty good.  And the haphazard way they did the results tonight was not my favorite.  But as we got into it, I felt like we might be in store for some surprises, and boy were we!

Nanny Brooke (as Tony Kornheiser likes to call her) pulled out a great comeback (or was it thanks to the folks at VoteForTheWorst.com??) by not being in the Bottom 2.  And Jason Castro also pulled one out as well, leaving Syesha and Carly in the Bottom 2!

I have to say…if you are going purely on last night’s performances, and most of you agreed with me, these two should NOT have been in the Bottom 2.  Carly’s been in some hot water before and perhaps she’s just not pop enough to make it.  Of course, I had Castro, Brooke and Syesha in my Bottom 3…but I was wrong with the Bottom 2 itself…way wrong.

So it’s Syesha and Carly, and what do you know but Carly’s going home…I liken this to when Michael Johns was booted off…only not as dramatic, and really because of this.  Carly’s going on tour with the Idols in July, and she’ll get a shot at a record deal if she wants it.  The thing is I think she’d be better as the lead singer of a band and not solo, whereas David Cook could go either way.  I see David Archuleta as a solo artist, like a Michael Buble or Josh Grobin.

So time to celebrate me home for Carly…I have to say, one of my favorites leaving the show tonight.  Sad.  And next week, with the music of Neil Diamond, what can we expect from the Final 5?!?  Could it be finally time for Syesha to say “Goodbye”??  Will Castro continue to swoon and get the female vote??
