I became a solid David Cook fan this season. I won't dispute that when David A is in his niche he is a phenom. But I really fear that without some youth-destroying grooming, his niche won't be getting any bigger. But I'm with Matt on this one that I really wonder if he'll slowly fade into the "Oh, yeah, I remember that guy" files. And even though winning Idol is BY NO MEANS a guarantee of success, much less staying power (Fantasia, Ruben, Taylor, too early to say with Sparks...) I really think David has more potential for success than anyone else we saw this year. I just hope the Idol groomers can find that happy medium between providing direction to a career without killing all creative energy. Who knows.

On a related note, I REALLY hope the producers of the world recognize the awesome potential of a Michael Johns/Carly Smithson duet album, because DANG that was hot.
